Black Betty interview in The Beachcomber Check out Black Betty's interview in The Beachcomber Newspaper (Delaware/Maryland). New Black Betty inspired jewelry! I'm so pleased to announce a second jewelry collaboration with RockLove of Brooklyn, NY! The Black Betty inspired Posey necklace did so well that we'll soon be offering a Moonshine Society inspired, unisex piece. It will be for sale on moonshinesociety.com, so visit the site to check it out! Video clips, TV spots, and new recordings- oh my! I'll be posting one new video clip or audio recording each week over the next month until April 14th! After traveling to Hawaii and Japan, more clips and audio recordings will be posted in May as well. So come on back, ya hear- First posting will be this Thursday night! Returning to the Boston for a stadium show! The RJL Memorial Fund hosts an Allstar Showcase of past Battle winners, including Black Betty, at Showcase Live in Gillette Stadium! A special show for us as we return to the city that embraced our music and put Black Betty on the cover of the Boston Herald and the Boston Globe. Check out the Calendar for details! Producing the next Charlie Sayles album! That's right, kiddies. Black Betty will be producing the next Charlie Sayles album, to be released early 2010. We've got a fantastic line up of well known blues musicians from around the US and Europe who will be collaborating on this album. More news to come! Silver Spring Blues Festival We had a great time performing at the Silver Spring Blues Festival this weekend! Many thanks to Alan Bowser, President of Silver Spring Town Center, Inc., and the DC Blues Society for putting the (first of hopefully many) festival events together in Downtown. I posted a couple pics in the Live images section.

Black Betty and Joe Poppen with the hard workin' festival coordinators and volunteers who kept this event movin'.
Blues Alley images are here! If you missed the amazing evening at Blues Alley on 3/3, I've uploaded a few images. Check them out! New designs and big news! In design news, I've completed the brand new website for Memphis Gold. You can view it by clicking here. This follows in a list of new site designs I've created for Charlie Sayles, and The Joe Poppen Band.
Bigger news, however, is a blues love story. Joe Poppen proposed to me on Valentine's Day, and your's truly said yes. Expect to see wonderful things from this power music couple this year! Memphis Gold Double Albums I've been in the studio with Memphis Gold for the last couple weeks as he is finishing two brand new albums- Gator Gon' Bitchu and Pickin' in High Cotton. You'll find me on backing vocals as well as lyrics that I've written for him. Both albums will be available March 3rd on CD Baby and his official website (which I just finished designing). We'll be performing at Blues Alley in DC on March 3rd, which will be an amazing time- Official Gibson Award Ceremony, Memphis Gold Birthday Bash, and CD Release Party all in one. Come on out! Heroes Red, White & Blue Ball In celebration of our 44th President of the United States, Black Betty had the pleasure of singing with Memphis Gold at the Heroes Red, White & Blue Ball on Inauguration Day. Held at the Warner Theater in DC, artists on the bill included George Clinton and the P-Funk Allstars, Ben Vereen, Peter, Paul and Mary, and Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes.

Happy New Year Out with the old, and in with the new. Black Betty is officially situated in the Washington DC area now! I kicked off 2009 with a New Year's performance with Charlie Sayles and Joe Poppen at the First Night Celebration in Falls Church, VA. This year will focus on performances with Charlie Sayles, Memphis Gold and Spice of Life, and Joe Poppen. Stay tuned! New videos and moving to DC! Joe Poppen and I are making plans and pleased to announce the we'll be relocating to the Washington DC area in January. The music scene has been very good to us there and we're eager to leave the snowy Nor'easters of Boston.
I've also posted a few new videos of us from the Disc Makers party in Boston. Check out my videos page or the blog to see them!
Fantastic Special Guests! JPB had a great week performing with some very special guests- Harmonica player Charlie Sayles and the burlesque beauties Babes in Boinkland. We were invited to perform at the Discmakers Boston Opening party at the Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge, MA. “I now have a new respect for the Boston music scene,” said Tony Van Veen, CEO of Disc Makers after the band brought down the house. Check out video of part of the show.
Boston Blues Challenge JPB won the semifinals on Saturday, August 2nd, at the Boston Blues Challenge! The finals will take place Saturday, August 9th, at Club 58 in Quincy and feature the Delta Generators, Rick "King" Russell, Alley Blues, The Joe Poppen Band, and Paul Speidel. The winning band will represent Boston at the International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis, TN at the beginning of 2009. Come on out- support JPB and the Boston blues scene! Double Take's Last Shows That's right. Double Take is officially saying, "Thank you and good night" at the end of September. The band has been together for 8+ years and played some amazing shows. I'd like to thank the D.T. fans that regularly come out to rock out with us, dancing to the 80's and Classic Rock hits all night long. Our last show will be at BBC Walpole on Saturday, 9/27. Check out the calendar dates for where you can check us out.
Columbia Pike Blues Festival It was such a treat to perform at the Columbia Pike Blues Festival in Arlington, VA. Memphis Gold invited Joe Poppen and I to play, and we had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Alabama based Lil' Jimmy Reed. Opening for us was DC's own Tom Principato, who is a heck of a guitarist and real treat to catch. Immediately following us was festival headlining act Roomful of Blues. What a blast! Check out a video clip of our performance.
