Joshua "BootZ" Kenning

Josh traces the beginnings of his musical career to an incident in his early childhood involving the discovery of his babysitter's viola. After playing with it for a few hours, he later informed his parents that he wanted a violin.

He went on to play the violin and sing in the Colorado Children's Chorale, while at the same time developing a healthy taste for blues and classic rock.

During high school, Josh formed his first band at church while playing in the school's pit orchestra. Abandoning the violin to pursue the guitar and drums, he played in several bands in Kansas City and the UK, ultimately settling on the guitar as his weapon of choice. A deepening drive to master his instrument led him to Boston and Berklee, and to date he's played on numerous recordings and with several bands in the Boston area.

He's currently Black Betty's right-hand guitar slinger, and on-call axeman for The Rachel Black Band, while continuing to give guitar lessons to several students. Continually adding to his musical bag of tricks, Josh's playing is a mix of classical styling, rhythm-rock, blues, and the occaisonal sonic freak-out.

When he's not tearing up a stage or warming up a barstool, Josh can be found working on his guitars, drawing, hating on TV, making a mess in the kitchen, or fighting with his cat, Achilles. Many other interests include philosophy, history, audio production, woodworking, and finding a decent barbeque joint, already!
