Black Betty
Black Betty is a California girl at heart, born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. The daughter of a beautiful belly dancer, she grew up on stages starting at the age of two when she won her first Beauty Pageant. Over the years, she went on to sing and dance for audiences, act in commercials and theater, and won National Talent awards throughout the country. She was even a model in Vogue at the age of five.
Don't let her dainty beginnings fool you. Black Betty wasn't always such a good girl, often sighted in scuffles at school and apparently too much for her Catholic Elementary School to handle. Once in High School, she discovered the power of rock and roll, and could be seen crooning Aerosmith, Motley Crue and Led Zeppelin covers at local dive bars with her band The Escorts.
In 2002, she received an "Outstanding Musicianship Award" for her vocals and World Tour Scholarship from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. She now hosts her own internet radio Blues show- "Black and Blues"- for BIRN, discussing and playing all forms of the blues. When she's not rockin' out, spinning tunes, or making eyes at the camera, you can find her at Sonicbids in Boston.
Neo-pinup, rock songbird and radio DJ- This little lady does it all. To date, she has sung on over three hundred recordings, performed live in front of audiences from Coast to Coast, won over one hundred awards for her talents, and is now one of Boston's biggest Pinup models.
Though she traded her ballet slippers for an electric guitar and harmonica, she'll never lose her glamorous roots. Inspirations include Janis Joplin, Mae West, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Bettie Page, Dita Von Teese, Jayne Mansfield, Robert Plant, Steven Tyler, Tom Waits, Nina Simone, Joan Armatrading, Etta James, Steve Perry, Robben Ford and Jeff Buckley.

Yeah, Baby!
